Theater Montagnes Russes is an international theatre company based in Vienna and run by the Austrian director Cornelia Rainer. The company is represented in Austria and abroad.
"Montagnes Russes" is the French term for roller coasters. Literally translated, it means "Russian mountains". Legend has it that a prototype of a roller coaster was invented in the Russian mountains, where slopes were iced in order to enable more adventurous rides.
The production "LENZ" took place on a wooden rollercoaster and gave, as one of their first performances, its name to the company. In 2016 "Lenz" has been invited to the 70 th Avignon Fesitval in France.
